A Screening Opinion application submitted by a developer for a proposed 250-house development on AONB land between Oakley and Charlton kings has attracted grave concerns from three leading organisations. The Cotswold Conservation Board, County Archaeology and the Campaign for the Protection of Rural England (CPRE) have all expressed concerns about this large-scale proposal. It is thought the development will undoubtedly destroy a precious part of the Cotswold AONB, and as well as being land that is designated 'not suitable for development' in the Ryder consultant’s landscape assessment (2015), Oakley Farm Pasture Slopes is not within the Cheltenham Plan / Joint Core Strategy.
