Taking into consideration the size and nature of the planning proposal set out in the request for a screening opinion document, Cheltenham Borough Council has ruled that the impact of such a development could have significant environmental effects and therefore an Environmental Impact Assessment must be conducted as part of a planning application for the proposed development. Upon deliberation, CBC considered the AONB status, archaeological background, ecology and biodiversity, traffic impacts and highway safety and flood risk and drainage, before making the decision. The Campaign to Protect Rural England (CPRE), the Cotswold Conservation Board and County Archaeology will welcome this decision, as will many residents whose interest has already been piqued by this potential development plan.
